Owning a Fiberglass pool is an enjoyable luxury, but, there is also responsibility that comes with it. While your pool is in use, or not, you need to practice good safety measures to enure things don't "off the deep end." Safety practices are more than just wearing sunscreen, it is making sure everyone is safe while swimming or just hanging out around the pool.
Having your yard fenced in isn't a must but also having a fence right around your pool is a great way to make sure kids cannot fall in. These fences should not be able to easily be accessible by a child. The great thing about the fences around the pool is that they can easily be removed once everyone is an experienced swimmer. Fences can come in all kinds of materials to fit everyone's budget. If you do not want a fence around your immediate pool, a safety cover is another option to make sure everyone is safe.
Alarms are an excelent way to know when your door is being opened and someone is heading into the backyard. It can be a full house alarm where it beeps when the door is open or a battery-operated alarm that can go at the top of your door to notify you when it is open. If you use the battery-operated alarm, please make sure your batteries are constantly changed so it is always in use.
Child locks are another wonderful tool to keep your doors shut until an adult is ready to be in the pool. Make sure the locks are high enough that the child cannot reach them, and they are always locked.
Your pool chemicals should never be lying around and easy to access. They need to put up and out of reach to avoid major injury.
The biggest safety item of all is to make sure everyone has been through swim lessons. Make sure you know cpr just in case an accident does occur while swimming in your pool. Always have adults outside supervising and clearly watching over the pool.
